The Solo Arena a recent bug that was introduced in a patch now allows you to zone into the solo arena with no lockout timer! However, the arena still proves EQ2 Plat to be challenging for some classes even after the scaling of the pit champion.
Tips for killing the pit champion if you are having problems with him are, eating and drinking well, using appropriate potions and buffs. But the most important thing to note is that he heals himself quite a lot.
In order to counter this, every time you see him cast a healing spell (through his animation) you have to stifle, stun, mez him and stop him while he is casting. Another easy way to make the arena easier is to group with a person lower level than you.
Do not mentor him, but just zone into the arena. If mentored you get a message saying that you have trivialized the event (soe fixed this). This makes the arena a tad easier as well. Because of there being no lockout timer that a lot of people are used to, and the fact that the chest drops coin when you complete this quest, makes it a reasonable farm. Also, the Lore item that you get, sell it to the merchant every time because you can only hold 1 at anytime.
