Items can be dropped (where they can be picked up by any other character), sold to any shop for a sum of meso, or sold/traded to other characters.
Generally, stronger monsters drop better items. Due to the time required to sell valuable items to other players as well as the quantity of items received, many players create a mule account to store excess items and/or act as a dedicated trading account.
In addition to their permanent change to a player's monster book, each card looted will cast a "buff" on the player, granting them a helpful boost such as increased drop rates or speed/jump boosts when hunting in the region where that monster appears.
For players who are above the level range of the Party Quests, opportunities to "buy" these cards appear from time to time as part of events.
Jump quests can be done again and again to receive random ores and jewels each time, except Adobis' quest which always rewards EXP and a quest item on completion.
