So our guild recruiting officer ran into an interesting problem this weekend. Our guild is located on a low pop server where most of the raiders have transferred off. As there doesn't seem to be any hope of a server merger, we unfortunately have to recruit raiders from other servers to be ready for firelands. His method including using the built in guild finder tool, realm recruitment forums, and advertising in trade of a server (1 message every 2 minutes for NO MORE than 3 times total). This apparently got him banned for 3 hours (+72hr ban from forums).
So my question is, what is the acceptable way to recruit cross-servers and is it effective?
The obvious methods:
1) In-game guild finder tool: Your server only
2) Advertise on that server's trade: Apparently only 1-2 advertisements still gets you a ban, but was the most effective option (achieved 3 vent interviews)
3) Advertise on that server's guild recruit channel: Not effective at all as it is invisible to anyone in a guild (which almost all raiders are).
4) Guild recruitment forum: Only real option available? Unfortunately very few people visit these foums, so not effective.
So am I missing something here? It seems either blizzard needs to change their policies or we need tools to help with cross-server recruitment. We have a good group of players that want to enjoy this game, but it appears this recruitment roadblock is going to stop us dead in our tracks.
