Equipment: When choosing armor, read what Aion Gold it does carefully. For example, Knights armor reduces damage for warriors but the effect doesn't stack - so you're better off picking just one Knights piece (typically boots) and having a better armor level on the larger pieces (chest and legs).
When choosing weapons, there are some easy choices and some others that are more dependent on personal choice. At the time of writing, the Staff Wrapping of Enchanting is a must-have for any character with key enchantments (e.g. Element lists with Ether Prodigy or Attunements).
These equipment picks aren't the ultimate truth, but I hope it shows that the same build can take different equipment depending on which environment you want to take it.
Pre-made characters: There are pre-made PvP characters available in the creation screen. At the time of writing, they're mostly fairly worthless.
Don't bother using them. You probably want to steer clear of playing Mesmer right now because it's arguably the profession that requires the most knowledge of the game.
I'll give a few example character builds here at the end of this guide but due to skill rebalances they will probably be outdated quickly, so take them with a pinch of salt.
